What's new in the WireEDM technology in the version 16 of Fikus Visualcam

Here is the list of the major developments in the technology of wire EDM in Fikus Visualcam 16

New options allow the treatment of constant taper corners (filleting, ...)

A new tab in the "conic constant" parameter form allows to define different treatments to be performed at the corners of the wire path (slot, circle, chamfer or V shaped corner). It is possible to choose whether the treatment shall be done in every corner or only at sharp or round corners.

New options for partial clearance

A new option in the CAM 4X construction function allows to define partial clearance in specific sectors of our part and defining the shape and measures without modifying the original CAD geometry.

New process 2XA (Advanced 2 axes)

The new 2XA process (advanced 2 axes) allows to define one or more 2-axes parts with the possibility of different tapers on each face. The process is treated as a 2-axes and post-processed as 2X contours with the corresponding angles. To define a geometry as 2XA, it is necessary to press the right mouse button on "Construction" and select "Advanced 2X. The Fikus "Construction" window shows up but now we can only define a constant taper on each face.

Automatic Entry Motion in XY Selection

It is now possible to define the entry motion automatically when selecting the XY geometry (only closed contours). Simply, select the option "Automatic entry motion" and set the values of angle and distance. If we put a positive value for distance, the part will be a cavity, if you put a negative value, it will be a punch. If we leave the values as zero, then an entry motion from the geometric center of the geometry will be created. It is a very useful option when we have many geometries.

Auto Entry Motion

Automatic Entry Motion for the No-Core-Cut process

It is now possible to define the entry point for the No-Core-Cut process automatically when you select the XY geometry. You only have to draw a "Point" entity from the CAD at that point where we want to begin the destruction. If we have several closed geometries, we can place a point inside each one. By selecting the geometries and the points drawn, Fikus automatically detects the inner point of each geometry. It is therefore a very useful option when we have many geometries.

Selection of sync lines already created in CAD

Now you can select automatically sync lines between the XY and UV contours that have been previously drawn in CAD (see the new function to create sync lines between two curves in CAD). The XY contour is selected normally but, when selecting the UV contour, mark the new option "Detect Synchro" and select the UV contour and the synchronization lines altogether.

Repartos

It is also possible to use the synchro lines drawn in CAD for the "Synchro" function in CAM. Select the XY and UV contours normally. Then enter the "Synchro" functionl, check the "Create with lines" option and select the lines.
