How to quickly extract the holes from a 3D part

I have a file that has come to me on surfaces and I have to extract the holes to make holes. How do I do this as quickly as possible?

It is becoming increasingly common for us to receive parts designed in 3D systems. Fikus has many options to work with this type of files and that allow us to extract the contours we need to machine in milling, lathe or wire.

We open in Fikus the file containing the surfaces.

From the "Tools/User Functions" menu, we select the function "Advanced Contour Extraction".

We select all

We select all the surfaces (through a window or the submenu - Select All) and accept.

We select all the arches

Depending on how the surfaces have been generated, some circles will appear as 2 or more arcs. If we want to transform them into circles (which is what the drill selection function needs), we will go to the function "Simplify curve" from the menu "Modify / Transform" or from the CAD bar.

We select all the arcs generated by means of a window (no problem if we also select the surfaces, the function will not take them into account) and accept. We will now have our circles ready to be selected as drills in milling or lathe or to be cut in thread.
